The Pot – this game is named after the Ruhr area in Germany.

The term stands for a lower-lying area compared to its surroundings, reminiscent of the interior of a pot, colloquially also called “Pott”.

In relation to the Ruhr area, it should be added that the region was an immigration area, a melting pot, for over 200 years. The “Kohlenpott” (coal pot), a bucket for transporting coal, is also used to explain the naming.

One thing is for sure: everything revolves around mining, and no other region in Germany is as typical, diverse, and colorful as the Ruhr area.

Let’s do a quick brainstorming. What comes to mind? Mines, allotment gardens, pigeon lofts, corner pubs, mixed bags of candy, football, bratwurst, beer, Grönemeyer, Schimanski, Opel Manta, culture, and multiculturalism. Who can add more terms?

Of course, there are also many tensions and problems: The transformation in the Pot is far from complete. But no matter where you come from, the Pot is home.

What could be closer than to playfully conquer the Pot in a social gathering? Here, it’s not primarily about leaving the game board as the richest player; rather, fun should be the focus!
